Standing up to do the right thing is never the wrong option. Most decent, averagely intelligent people will respect someone for doing the right thing to help those who are suffering at the hands of others. These people are often viewed as strong, reliable, and admirable - so long as they're humble and not total jerks the rest of the time. What are the Republicans supposed to do when the cities that are burning bare ran by Democrats?
The other issue is they are afraid to lose moderates over being "racists" if they denounce looting. It's already happened to moderate liberals. Moderates are heavily swayed by the media.
The moderate population is a fickle bitch. Some are all for BLM....or at least more equality. Some are hating on the Republicans for not coming out against the looting.
So come November, Democrats will show how racist Republicans are if they fight back on the looting. Republicans can't win the narrative as long as the media and Dems are running the show.
What we have instead is a body of people who waffle in their attempts to pander for votes. They are interpreted as weak, undependable, and self serving. The People easily recognize they are phony. These people are incapable of making the tough decisions to serious problems, and due to their untrustworthy reputation are even less effective at leading people through such a challenging situation.
Basically, we need parents to actually raise and teach their children again (some do, most do not). We need compassionate, strong women to lead. We need men to locate their balls and reattach them. And this goes for all our society, myself included. However, I will grant one exception for Chuck Norris.
