Optics do matter, and as leader of the free world, Barack Hussein Obama sent the wrong message last week in the wake of the terrorist attacks in Brussels that killed at least four Americans and injured a dozen others, with several more still missing.
At least one intelligence official has indicated that the attack appeared to target Americans, but where was Obama right after the attack?
He was In Cuba doing the wave at a baseball game, sitting next to Raul Castro, the communist dictator of a nation that was considered a state sponsor of terror less than a year ago. A day later, as Belgian officials sifted through the wreckage, he was doing the tango in Argentina.
It may be remembered that front-page photos in 2014 showed Obama smiling and relaxing on a golf course on Martha's Vineyard just minutes after delivering a statement about the beheading of a U.S. journalist.
Meanwhile, Obama's administration continues to downplay the threat posed by ISIS, and the president still refuses to refer to "Islamic terrorism." And who can forget his reference to ISIS as "the JV team" and his claim that ISIS doesn't represent an existential threat to America. He even declared that ISIS had been “contained” a day before the Paris attacks.
ISIS hopes and plans to destroy America and Western civilization, and whether we like it or not, we are at war with radical Islam. The time to take ISIS seriously is long overdue, and Barack Hussein Obama continues to send the wrong message to worldwide friends and foes alike.
