Not really. I just take the time and look at thing logically. Anyone that's known me for any length of time knows that I have been bitching about the "green" addicts and electric/hybrid promoters every time they claim they're saving the planet with electric cars. In the big picture, electris/hybrids have a much larger carbon footprint than gas models. Eventually, they MAY see this.

Disposing of old Li-Ion batteries is an ecological problem all it's own....The cars are no worse... it's the batteries that concern me.
It all comes down to where the car gets it power from, as to whether or not it's cleaner than a gas driven one. Given the state of the power grid in this nation with it's huge reliance on old, dirty coal fired power plants, they ain't getting their power from clean energy sources.
The article talks about congested areas and how electric cars are better in those areas, centers per mile. However, it doesn't exactly say whey they are worse outside of metro areas.
Also, depending on the coal fired plant, some have scrubbers on them that make coal burning cleaner than gas. But thats not all plants. From what I have read, charging EVs from coal plants is about break even with reasonably effecient auto engines when it comes to CO2 emmisions. If thats the case, then it comes down to how much energy does it take to make the fuel energy ready. Piping or shipping oil, energy to refine oil, dig up coal, ship coal..etc.
Biggest issue is the battery disposal and how that effects the environment.
