Gatlinburg on fire

For some reason, this isn't getting the news play it deserves on the cable news networks. Apparently, this isn't considered a big story ... but is there any doubt that Gatlinburg would be the center of unlimited coverage if a white Gatlinburg cop killed a black person, or if a Gatlinburg baker refused to bake a wedding cake for a gay wedding?

Perhaps you've been tuned to MSNBC, and that network may, indeed, be covering it. But I've watched quite a bit of Fox and CNN, and neither of those channels are giving the fire much coverage.

I never made it there. When we lived in Indiana, seemed everyone had taken a vacation there at least once. Sounded like a neat place. I'm sure the scenery in the mountains was/is beautiful.

I've visited several times. Done many day hikes around the area. Gatlinburg and pigeon forge are a little touristy. But the smoky mountains are great.
This actually started yesterday and got worse last night. I flipped between CNN and fox for over an hour late last night and I saw nothing. Evacuations were already going on and structures had already caught fire. Sadly social media was keeping me informed.
