I get where you're coming from and respect the value you place on life, but for every Tesla, DaVinci, etc., there are millions and millions of deadbeat losers.
I look at it from a different point of view - would I want to exist if I had a choice in my own existence (knowing what I would be born into)? My family wasn't rich, but my parents both held jobs and were able to provide. I didn't have a lot of toys, certainly none of the "cool" ones, and never had trendy clothes. That said, we weren't living in squalor, I never went hungry, and neither of my folks were drug addicts nor abusive. While I didn't have the big leg up on life that the rich kids had, the deck wasn't stacked against me either. I had a fair chance to make something of my life, even if modest.
Had it been different... say my Dad was never around, both parents were hopeless drug addicts, homeless, or lived in filth. Stealing was a way of life and dealing with criminal organizations to make/sell illegal drugs (or people) was the most stable career choice available. I'd rather be aborted before I knew I existed than to grow up/live like that. It's more humane - we don't make dogs and cats live like that, so why should we make humans do it? (That last sentence also touches on end of life decisions too, but that's a whole other topic).
I guess my view is that, yes, life CAN BE a wonderful gift, even if it's not an extravagant life. It can also be a horrible curse.
