... but here in Florida, more than 90% of trees and plants remain green all winter!
We were in Gatlinburg the last weekend of October last year. The higher elevations were brown (Mt. Laconte and Clingmans done) but the lower mountains and valleys were hitting full peak.
Normally here in North Alabama we are usually peak about the first weekend of November. Things seem to be a week early here but that's probably due to the drought conditions.
The problem is that here, most Forrest are red maple, sweet gum, and different varieties of oak. We don't have the bright sugar maples like up north.

Meanwhile, here on the west central coast of Florida, more than 90% of trees, grass and other plants remain green all winter!
Up in Jacksonville we had a sugar maple that would turn in January! It was probably 50 years old but it was taken down because Michael took half of it out and disease/bugs the other half.
Better hurry. Peak or past peak in some places l.
We're above normal for the past couple of weeks, but nothing extraordinary. Now the cold front moves in.
Had 30° yesterday morning. Gonna be lows in 30s and highs of 40s all week. I'm not ready for this shit
