So for the older generation...

Has the Republican party overall moved farther left, stayed the same, or farther right?

I was on reddit in a local subreddit and they were adamant that the party has moved farther right. Obviously Reddit is far left to begin with, but here is my analysis:

1. Most aren't fiscally conservative
2. As a whole the party has moved farther left on abortion (they've done pissed off the evangelicals)
3. As a whole most don't care about gay marriage anymore except the extremists
4. Some Republicans in office are considering red flag laws for gun ownership.
5. Republicans used to be the party of big pharma

As many Republicans have said over the years, Republicans are just Ds with speed bumps.

I think the GOP has gone through a re-evaluation of priorities. Yes, they've gone a bit left on some issues, but one must remember that we have a much different set of issues now than we had 50 years ago.

Well, and I think that's sort of why in some cases the left *might* see Republicans far Right if looking at it from a vacuum.

An example: Republicans never used to pull books from school libraries ( this whole narrative is a lie anyways, but it provides the setup) so they are moving right.

Counterpoint: we never had Democrats think putting books about sexual orientation, transgenderism, and performing sexual acts in a school library was a good idea.

Reality: if you asked Republicans 30 years ago about sex books in schools, they'd have the same opinion as today. If you asked Democrats about these same books 30 years ago, they'd agree with the Republicans.

It's all about framing.

Dear Djarum300:

The modern-day Democrats are so far left that middle-of-the-road would seem far right to them and the fake-news lamestream media!
