Was Bolton on the 51 names list?

At any rate, why does Bolton given SS detail? Has any former government official before given SS detail besides former presidents? Why is John Bolton's opinion of Trump not political but Trump's opinion of him political?

One thing I don't get is how former intelligence officials still have clearance. As soon as you leave employment or need to know is no longer required, you lose your clearance. This is how it works for regular folks. Why were these other people special?
