So votes can't be tracked once they are tabulated.

The issue is of course anonymity. Should votes be tracked and not anonymous in the sense that some official.could track your vote or not?

This is the Same problem GA had. Mail in votes couldn't be tracked back to the ID of the person casting the vote to actually audit them.
