Interesting how "C.W. Mccall's" music career launched from a wildly successful TV advertising campaign he created for a baking company. Also interesting that Chip Davis (mastermind of Mannheim Steamroller) helped write the music while Fries wrote the lyrics and sang.

What you wrote in the above-quoted post is true, but as for the song "Convoy" itself, it was the song that brought McCall (Fries) to prominence, but he had four previous C&W charters, and one of them ("Wolf Creek Pass") also crossed over to the pop charts at No. 40 nationally.
