    New Roto Grip

    Product Features & Description
    Roto Grip Rising Star
    Brand: Roto Grip Bowling

    - Coverstock: Ultimate Vision Hybrid Reactive
    - Weight Block:Neutron Core (14-16)
    - Ball Color: Black Solid/Gold Pearl All colors do vary somewhat from the picture shown.
    - Ball Finish: 1500 Polished
    - Track Flare Potential: 3-4 Inches (Med) on a scale of 1-10 Low-High
    - Recommended Lane Conditions: Medium-Light Oil
-- Description: The intent of the new Rising Star was to create a ball that works well on medium-light oil patterns for bowlers with different skill levels and styles. With the benchmark-type symmetrical core shape, the original Dark Star was the cornerstone of the Shield line in 2010, and the new Rising Star will fit the same parameters and perform even better. The Rising Star was designed to increase total hook as compared with the Dark Star, the Ultimate Vision hybrid coverstock is a must for this new release. It creates a smooth glide through the heads with ample bite on the dry boards without being over-sensitive. And with a 1500-grit polished finish, the new Rising Star is sure to raise the bar. A journey to the center of the ball will reveal the new Neutron core as the power source. The Neutron core's medium RG-medium differential shape is based on the concept started with the original Photon core utilized in the Dark Star. But you'll find an even lower RG and higher differential in the heavier weights. So look for more motion out of the Rising Star with all the benefits of a hybrid coverstock. As you rise to the top with this new Roto Grip release, you'll quickly see why it earned the name Rising Star!

    - Description: Following the huge impact on the market made by the original Roto Grip Theory, Roto Grip has created the Infinite Theory. This ball is for bowlers looking for a smoother glide through the heads with strong motion through the pocket. The Triliptic core helps the ball get into a roll easier while the Infinite theory's triple elliptical shape creates consistent axis migration and predictable ball motion giving the consistency needed. This ball also provides more energy transfer from the ball to the pins, increasing pin movement and therefore increasing strikes. The hybrid coverstock gives added versatility while the polished surface will float the ball effortlessly through the heads with a hint of Abralon for the benefits of a solid. Actually Roger Noordek explained why there was such a short time between the 2.

I would like to jump in here and explain a few things on this. You will see a new Theory on the way very soon. Information should be released by tomorrow. It is unlike us to release a high performance release (coverstock change) 3 months after the first one. However, Every since the cell series the Roto Grip brand has been out of whack with our release schedule. We feel this has hurt us. This new Theory coming out sooner should get us back on track. For years, dating back to probably as early as 2004 we were very consistent with:

    Jan/Feb: High/Entry

    March/April: Mid

    July/Aug: High/Entry

    October: Mid

That kept everything 6 months apart and became a staple in the industry for consistent launch schedules. With the demmand for the original Cell we felt necessary to push the Cell Pearl off longer and released that ball by itself in October 2008. We have been off ever since. So, I know it is unusual but the new Theory will compliment the original nice and we should be on track after this launch. Keep an eye out for a new Shield line ball as well.

    Thanks,

I don't get onto Ebonite for their releases because it has to be hard to balance releases for 4 different brands at lets say 3 different performace levels. I think they let the Mission its legs for a long time before the Mission 2.0. I can't speak for the 2.0 sales figures but if I was running a company and released a ball that maybe didn't sell the way I wanted it to I would bring out the next ball a little faster. If a ball is selling really well and I can extend the period before the next ball to do more R&D and maximize the profit potential of the last ball I would wait longer. In the world of whiny bowlers it has to be hard to juggle this kind of stuff.

what is the cost difference in producing a new ball compared to just keep producing a current ball? if the cost is really no different then why not keep popping out new stuff and keep the people that feel the need to drill every new ball out happy. the sale of the original Mission is the same as a sale on the new Mission.

It just sucks for pro shops that may order in quantity and before than can sell one ball they are ordering another one.

How long is it today before a ball is considered retired or discontinued ? In the past it could have been years, Today with balls being released every few months you can buy a ball today and it be discontinued next month!

I have no problems with it. First Ebonite, now Storm. I believe 900 Global has always had this poicy so Brunswick should be next. Some of the smaller ( Motive, Lane #1, Morich, Siesmic) companies may not follow because it may be easier for them to sell over the internet instead of Pro Shops. I also believe that Visionary does not sell to internet distributors but I could be wrong.
