Ebonite Vortex trimax (sanded)

I have a question maybe some one can answer, I have had several V2's (sanded) , I have just picked up another one but this one is different.

It is one of the first Vortex trimax sanded , the strange thing is right above the ebonite label it has a small star ingraved on it. I have never seen a STAR ingraved on any Ebonite balls. It looks like its from the factory and is colored the same as the rest of the logo's any ideas ?????????

I have never seen a star and I know that there hasn't been any changes to that ball since the last change to the V2 logo on the side a couple of years ago but the star is correct on that ball because it will make you a STAR!

Take a picture of it and post it and maybe we can find out what it is, or to see if you have been smelling to many fuel oil fumes.
